This is the process when im about to shower. Im able to this with very little assistance almost none sometimes. Also when showering i dont have to worry about water or soap touching the stoma or opening area where the foley catheter goes in. Sorry for only loading half of this process because i dont have a computer or lap top to edit my videos. Somethings take longer than 20 min to do by yourself as a Quad…
I forgot to mention that the hole on the shower chair seat also helps alot to not put to much pressure on my coxis area. Pressure soars are very common in this area so i have to becareful what kind of shower chair i use.
The Last Day (14:13) This clip was a race against the battery as I wheel to the beach in my bikini and struggle across the sand to get 2 towels for the sun loungers. The wind also against us we find 2 loungers and I park next to one and put the towel on. I transfer onto it and cover myself in sun oil, rearranging my body parts to ensure a good tan. After lying there a good while I transfer back into my chair and wheel across the sand and give the towels back. Out of the public eye, but still in the open, I take my bikini off and start getting dressed into my normal clothes. The camera dies just before I get my skirt on.
My thigh muscles are getting tight which isn’t affecting me right now but I want to catch it before it gets worse. I am sat on the bed with my knees bent and my feet touching to stretch my inner thigh muscles. I shuffle forward on the bed so my legs hang off the edge and lie back to feel the muscles stretch, my lifeless feet dangling. I move around the bed and onto my stomach for a stretch and lift myself up on my arms and attempt to crawl on all fours. I put some socks on to protect my legs before transferring to the floor. I want to show off my new floor to chair transfer so I drag myself across the floor using only my arms, my dead legs trailing behind me. I carefully position my legs and deftly swing into my chair, wobbling to get upright and get my legs into position. I wheel down the hall and transfer onto the floor and back into my chair from two different angles explaining my technique, even trying one with the chair on my right. I top it off with a super wheelie!
Casting Call (18:57) This is my first attempt at casting my legs so it is very much trial and error. I pull a tubular bandage over each leg which is difficult with my floppy feet. I try to wrap cotton wool around my legs too but the cotton wool keeps tearing! I lower myself into the bath to find a good position and test some wet plaster bandage on my arm to make sure it doesn’t burn or itch. When I lift my legs over the side of the bath they keep opening so I sellotape my legs together above the knee and then I start casting my legs together. I didn’t get enough plaster bandage so I can only cast up to my knees. Once it has dried I lift myself out of the bath into my wheelchair so I can go to my bedroom. I lift my legs up and drop them, admitting defeat. I transfer onto the bed to check my skin and cut the bandage off.
Scuba Diving is fast becoming one of the most exciting accessible activities in the world. With a little inventiveness disabled people with a variety of conditions have been able to explore the undersea world, even a few vent dependent quads.
Tommy Hollenstein is an artist with a spinal cord injury, but unlike others in his situation, he rejected the usual method of mouthpainting. Tommy uses the wheels on his power chair to create colorful, unique works of art.
Ananda gets out of her wheelchair with a Hoyer Lift. Someone also stretches her hip. Doctor’s orders. I tried to get Sean to slap my butt which he usually does when i’m up in the Hoyer Lift. He refused this time because “the viewers wouldn’t want to see that”. Please send me a message or video response telling me otherwise.
This Kick Ass standing frame is covered through DSHS and Medicaid, but not Medicare for some reason, and I want to know why! Tacoma Washington by the Narrows Bridge, I get on my friends who got his through insurance. Oh yes, Jesus is a mushroom, if you’re interested, see my other videos, and I’ll explain. Peace and Paralysis.
